Mother charged over girl's death

12 April 2012

A 22-year-old woman is appearing in court charged with causing or allowing the death of her four-year-old daughter.

Leticia Aalayah Wright died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as a result of complications from suffering multiple injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the 22-year-old woman will appear before magistrates in Huddersfield, but refused to release her name.

Leticia and her family, who are originally from Huddersfield, had moved away and only returned to live in the town's Almondbury Bank in August.

She has been described as a "beautiful, happy little girl".

Police refused to give details of the injuries she suffered but said she died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary early on Sunday after being taken there the previous evening.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died as a result of complications from multiple injuries.
