Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 26-year-old man in Wales.
The man, known locally as Ryan O’Connor according to Wales Online, was discovered in Newport just after 9pm on Thursday.
Officers attended the scene after receiving a report of a serious assault in Balfe Road and found Mr O’Connor unconscious and unresponsive.
Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service later confirmed he had died and his family is receiving support from specialist officers.
Gwent Police launched an investigation and said two 19-year-old men from Cardiff, an 18-year-old man from Cardiff, a 17-year-old boy from Caerphilly and a 17-year-old boy from Cardiff have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
All five remain in police custody and inquiries are continuing.
Officers remained at the scene throughout the day on Friday, where tributes were left for Mr O’Connor.
Two friends of the deceased father-of-one told Wales Online: "We’re in shock. We grew up with him.
"We’ve known him since we were babies. He was a quiet lad and extremely popular. Very well known in the area. You can see by the tributes already this morning what people thought of him."
In a statement, police said: “Anyone who has dashcam footage from Balfe Road, especially of the roundabout and the surrounding area, between 8.45pm and 9.20pm on Thursday 10 June to get in touch with us.”
