Parents' tribute to TV death girl

12 April 2012

The grieving parents of a two-year-old girl who was crushed to death by a television set have paid tribute to their "little princess".

Karli Ann Watt is thought to have been alone in a room in her home when she touched the TV, and it fell on top of her.

The toddler's parents, Alana and Paul, heard the noise and rushed into the room to find her lying injured.

She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh following the accident on Saturday morning, and died a short time later.

In a statement issued through Lothian and Borders Police, Mr Watt said: "My wife and I are devastated, and still very much in shock at this tragic time.

"Our little princess, Karli, meant the world to us. She was loved so much by both of us, and will always be in our hearts.

"We would appreciate our family being left in peace to grieve for our little girl."

The accident happened in the family's flat in the Moredun area of Edinburgh.

Police said a post-mortem examination has been carried out and there are no suspicious circumstances.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
