A British comedian is again taking on the “Herculean task” of replying to every person who asks “when is International Men’s Day” on Twitter.

Richard Herring’s “polite trolling” last year raised £150,000 for domestic abuse charity Refuge and he has this year raised £50,000 of a £100,000 goal.

He has raised the money by asking people to sponsor him to reply to people on twitter who bemoaned the fact that "there wasn’t a day to celebrate men".

He has vowed to reply to every person by informing them that there international men's day was on November 19.

“On March 8th (International Women's Day) I search Twitter for people asking "When's International Men's Day" and tell them that it's November 19th,” he wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“It's a Herculean task in the face of ignorance and the inability to google.

“Last year people donated £150,000 to Refuge in support of this ridiculous obsession.

“It'd be great if we could add another £50,000 or more to that total as it makes a huge difference to the brilliant work this charity does.”

Living up to his promise, Mr Herring has shot down sceptics who asked about International Men’s Day.

He told one person who asked the question along a red-faced angry emoji: “You’ve been out in the sun too long so can’t google, so happy to tell you it’s November 19th. Try to keep your blood pressure down or you might not make it.”

To another he replied: “C’mon mate. It’s November 19th. Try not to make the rest of us men look bad.”

He said to another: "Lads can join with the boys and men who celebrate their wonderful masculinity on November 19th. But remember, if you ask to be one of the lads, you’re not one of the lads. And the lads pity you."

Many people Mr Herring had replied to had deleted their original tweets.
