Rita Ora missing from The Masked Dancer line-up after lockdown breach as bosses ‘try to sign Oti Mabuse’

Rita Ora will not feature on the judging panel for the Masked Dancer after her Covid rule-breaking 30th birthday party.

ITV bosses are reportedly let down by Ora's behaviour which saw CCTV cameras at Casa Cruz in Notting Hill turned off to avoid filming the arrival of Ora's celebrity guests, which included Cara Delevingne, police said.

The pop star has previously apologised for her “spur of the moment” decision to throw the celebration at the restaurant on November 28 last year, in violation of coronavirus restrictions.

The Masked Singer spin-off is set to feature all the other judges from the original show – Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan plus presenter Joel Dommett - but Ora has not been invited back, according to reports.

Producers are keen to get Strictly's Oti Mabuse on board, according to reports.

One insider told The Daily Mirror: “Viewers have been watching Rita on Saturday nights for weeks, but the Masked Singer was recorded way before her birthday bash at the end of November.

"Such a lot of effort goes into keeping the talent and crew safe while making it – many people felt let down by the way Rita behaved. She has not done herself any favours.”

A source close to Ora claimed the singer was not featuring in the show due to a scheduling issue, telling MailOnline: "It's common knowledge that she's in Australia and will be filming The Voice for the next few months."

The Masked Dancer is thought to be a quickfire replacement for Britain's Got Talent, which had to be scrapped in 2021 due to the pandemic.

Kensington and Chelsea Council suspended the licence of Casa Cruz for six weeks after Ora's "egregious" birthday party.

A statement from the council’s licensing sub-committee said: “Many of the supporters urged the committee not to revoke the licence because they considered that the restaurant is a valuable community asset."

Charles Holland, a lawyer representing the police at last month’s hearing, previously told the committee: “The incident on the night was one of the most egregious, and certainly the most notorious, breaches of the regulations committed on licensed premises.”

He added Ora “selfishly wished to flout the lockdown” by seeking to pay for access to the restaurant.
