Parents picking up their children from a primary school in West Sussex have been ticked off for wearing “skimpy” outfits.

A letter entitled “Playground Etiquette” was sent to all parents and guardians of children attending Seymour Primary School, in Crawley.

It urged mothers to make more of an effort to dress appropriately when picking up their children and not wear revealing outfits that “look like underwear.”

The letter added: “Wearing clothes that are too skimpy or for other times of day is not setting a good example.”

One parent told The Sun that she had seen a mother wearing a see-through top and another wearing a v-neck outfit that was low enough to show her cleavage.

“You could literally see everything,” she said.

“It beggars belief to think it’s an acceptable way to dress to take their children to school. It’s not a catwalk.”

But another parent said they believed the letter was “over the top.”

A statement provided by the school said: “In response to increasing numbers of parents wearing pyjamas and, at times revealing clothing that looked like underwear, the school issued a note asking parents to consider dressing more appropriately.

“Whilst well intended as guidance, the school acknowledges the wording could have been less prescriptive.”
