Tom Daley is keeping up with another sport at the Olympics and has knitted a personalised cosy for his gold medal.
The world class diver won the men’s synchronised 10m platform in a stunning performance, with partner Matty Lee, on Monday.
The GB athlete, who is appearing in his fourth Olympic Games, revealed how his passion for knitting had helped to keep him on track.
“Myself and Mattie my secret partner won the Olympics yesterday,” Daley said on Instagram.
“The one thing that has kept me sane throughout this whole process is my love for knitting and crochet and all things stitching.
“This morning I made a little cosy for my medal to stop it getting scratched so here it is.”
“I’ve got the Union Jack on one side and the Japanese flag on the other and it all tucks in nicely for me to have a little pouch for me to carry around my medal,” he added.

Daley began knitting during the pandemic last year and says he has been “obsessed every since.”
He has since launched an Instagram account dedicated to his new craft featuring chunky knits, woolly pot plants and cuddly toys.
In his first ever post, he said: “I started knitting at the beginning of lockdown and have been obsessed ever since.
“I have started to crochet now also.”
Daley’s husband, Oscar winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, also celebrated the pair’s win.
He tweeted: “No words. So so many tears. Tom Daley you’re an Olympic champion. Congratulations Tom and Matty Lee.”
