Video appeal by murder hunt police

12 April 2012

Police are using a video-sharing internet site aimed at young people to appeal for more information about a schoolboy's murder.

Jessie James, 15, was gunned down in a park in the notorious Moss Side area of Manchester last month.

A one-minute video clip, which includes a tribute from Jessie's mother Barbara Reid and an appeal from his sister, Rosemary, is now available online at www.youtube.com

It is the first time the website has been used by Greater Manchester Police to appeal for witnesses.

Last week a poster campaign was launched with a picture of the Manchester Academy pupil alongside the words, "Can you live with it? I can't".

Witnesses have been reluctant to come forward because of fears of intimidation.

Jessie was shot three times with a semi-automatic pistol in the early hours of Saturday, September 9. His body was discovered lying next to his mountain bike.

It is not thought he was involved with any gangs operating in the area.

The video clip can be found by typing 'Jessie James, Moss Side' into the search box on www.youtube.com or by visiting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM6HmxlU-hI
