A 63-year-old man has been accused of murdering and chopping up his friend in a row over his accordion skills.

The man was charged with murder after allegedly beating his 66-year-old victim with a crowbar before striking him with a sledgehammer, Russian police say.

He is then believed to have hacked-up the body and hidden parts in suitcases and rubbish bags which were later discovered by refuge collectors, The Moscow Times reported.

The attack took place in a village near Cheboksary, 350 miles east of Moscow.

Police told reporters that the men had been drinking together before the alleged murder.

Following the row the suspect is believed to have taken valerian, a herbal sleep aid, before falling asleep.

He then is said to have fled to a nearby village before being tracked down by police and arrested.
