Two stunt planes have crashed at an air show in Switzerland which was taking place a day after the Shoreham disaster in Sussex.

At least one person was killed after the mid-air collision between two small planes in the village of Dittingen, northern Switzerland.

The two jets were part of a formation of three and crashed to the ground just before 11.30am after touching in the air.

The airshow in Dittingen, near Basel, was temporarily interrupted as rescue teams raced to the scene of the crash, police said.

It was not immediately clear if there were further casualties, though Swiss media reported that one pilot managed to escape by parachute while the third plane in the formation made a safe landing.
