Donald Trump will deliver his first State of the Union speech on Tuesday - and the address has already hit a snag.

Tickets issued to representatives and their spouses contained a glaring typo, as they invited guests to the "State of the Uniom".

The tickets were printed by the Office of the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, and were reissued on Monday.

The mistake attracted ridicule from Republicans and Democrats alike.

One Democratic Congressman, Raúl M. Grijalva, used the error to poke fun at education secretary Betsy DeVos - herself the dubious beneficiary of a typo from her own office describing her as "Secretary of Educatuon".

The President was not involved in printing the tickets.

But readers of Mr Trump's Twitter feed will know that spelling is not always the President's strong point: in the past year alone, he has tweeted non-existent words such as "unpresidented", "honered", "hearby".

Memorably, he also tweeted to complain of "constant negative press covfefe".

The State of the Union is one of the biggest events in the US political calendar, and sees the president address members of Congress and the Senate.

It includes a report on the state of the nation's economy, a budget message, and offers the president the chance to outline their legislative agenda.
