Donald Trump's star on Hollywood Walk of Fame attacked with sledgehammer

Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been attacked with a sledgehammer.

The star - which was awarded to Trump in 2007 and is located near the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard - was targeted today in the early hours of the morning.

Speaking to Deadline, the man claiming responsibility said he originally intended to remove the star so he could auction it to raise funds for women who have come forward to accuse Trump of sexually assaulting them.

However this was not successful, and the star has been left smashed to pieces.

It is not the first time Trump's star has been vandalised in the run-up to the US election, with people spraying graffiti and even defecating and urinating on it.

In July, Californian street artist Plastic Jesus placed a miniature barbed wire fence around it.
