Lightning strikes America’s second tallest skyscraper as a gigantic storm sweeps across Chicago.

The jagged bolt hit the twin lightning conductors on the 1,451ft Willis Tower, formerly the Sears Tower.

Yet more raced across the sky, threatening other tall buildings, as hail and high winds battered the city.

On this side of the Atlantic, weather experts said London could bask in a mini heatwave next week.
