Many dead as lightning strikes Seventh-Day Adventist church in Rwanda

At least 16 people were killed and dozens more injured after lightning struck a Seventh-Day Adventist church.

The strike happened in the southern Nyaruguru district of Rwanda.

Most victims died immediately when the lightning struck, according local mayor Habitegeko Francois.

The incident happened in the mountainous region near the country's border with Burundi on Saturday.

Mr Francois told the AFP news agency: "Doctors say that only three [more churchgoers] are in critical condition but they are getting better."
