Airport security staff were left shocked after discovering a monster 20-pound live lobster hidden in a passenger’s luggage.

The huge shellfish was spied at Boston's Logan International Airport's Terminal C.

Security staff said the whopping lobster was the largest they had ever seen at the airport.

The US Transportation Security Administration does not explicitly forbid lobsters.

But regulations state live animals must be carried in a "clear, plastic, spill-proof container".

Spokesman Michael McCarthy said the lobster "co-operated quite nicely with the screening process".

He tweeted a photo of the enormous sea creature with its fearsome pincers bound by tape.

Mr McCarthy wrote: “TSA officers are skilled at screening all sorts of items in checked baggage...including this 20+ pound lobster.”
