A British banker accused of killing two women was a “narcissistic sexual sadist” who had been abused at school, his trial heard.
Rurik Jutting, 31, is on trial in Hong Kong for the murder of two Indonesian women whose mutilated bodies were found in his apartment two years ago.
The Cambridge graduate said he had been abused by another boy while a student at renowned English private school Winchester College, a forensic psychiatrist told the court.
Psychiatrist Richard Latham took to the witness stand to give evidence as Jutting’s legal team opened his defence case at the High Court.
Dr Latham told the court Jutting suffered from personality disorders of sexual sadism as well as disorders from cocaine and alcohol abuse, Sky News reported.
Last week the jury watched mobile phone footage allegedly showing Jutting raping and torturing his first victim over the course of three days, and discussing plans to kill the second.
Dr Latham said: "The thing I never had before in a case is the video recordings he made himself because they give you a direct view of what he was like around the time of these two killings.
"At the time of the killings his ability to control his behaviour was substantially impaired."
The trial continues.
