A nine-year-old girl has died in a freak accident, where a gust of wind lifted a trampoline 150 foot into the air.

Oaklee Sidwell was playing on the trampoline with friends when a sudden gust lifted it from the backgarden until it landed around 50 yards away.

She was the last of her friends to be on it and was reportedly lacing up her shoes at the time.

The girl was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a Salt Lake City hospital where she later died of multiple injuries.

Local authorities say the trampoline was correctly assembled and had a safety net.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cheryl Church said it was a tragic, freak accident that has affected the entire county.

An obituary for Oaklee described her as "living life to the full."

"Oaklee was here with us for nine wonderful years and was so full of life," it read. "She lived it to the fullest and shared her happiness with everyone around her."
