Young massacre victim Jessica Ghawi sent haunting tweets from inside the cinema minutes she was shot dead.
The aspiring sports television presenter, one of at least 12 killed in the massacre, was with a male friend at the midnight showing and sent excited messages on her account.
As she took her place in the Century Aurora 16 Movie Theater 9, in a mall in the suburb of Aurora, Denver, she tweeted: “Movie doesn’t start for 20 minutes!”.
“Never thought I’d have to coerce a guy into seeing the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises with me.”
Three hours later, her brother Jordan told his Twitter followers: “This could easily be the worst night of my life. It appears that my sister has been fatally wounded in a mass shooting at a movie premiere in Denver, CO.”
Her parents also confirmed her death via phone to a local radio station and are travelling en route to Colorado.
Ms Ghawi, who moved to Denver around a year ago and uses the name Jessica Redfield on Twitter, was with a friend who was also wounded, according to reports.
Her friend Peter Burns tweeted: “Lost a very close friend in the shooting last night. (Jessica) came to Denver to pursue career. I’m shaking.”
Ms Ghawi also wrote a poignant final blog about her feelings after she narrowly avoided a deadly shooting in Eaton Mall, Toronto, Ontario, Candada on June 2 where one man was killed and seven others were injured.
She wrote: “I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing. So often I have found myself taking it for granted. Every hug from a family member.
"Every laugh we share with friends. Even the times of solitude are all blessings. Every second of every day is a gift. After Saturday evening, I know I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given.”
