Goodison medal bid over
Reigning gold medallist Paul Goodison's chances of a podium finish in the sailing Laser class have come to an end.
The 34-year-old came into the regatta amongst the favourites but has struggled all week due to a back injury picked up in just the second race.
Goodison came off the water in tears on Tuesday but fought on courageously to complete the 10-race opening series
The Yorkshireman secured a ninth and then an eighth on Saturday to leave him sixth overall, meaning he will compete in Monday's medal race but without a chance of a medal due to the points margin.
Goodison will almost certainly see the gold go to Australia's Tom Slingsby, who has one hand on the gold medal after a double bullet in Weymouth Bay.
Slingsby is guaranteed silver, while Cypriot rival Pavlos Kontides is certain of winning his country's first ever medal in Olympic history.
Fleet racing also came to a close in the Laser Radial class, where Britain's Ali Young faces a fight to win a medal after being black flagged in the afternoon's first race.
Olympic bronze medallist Bryony Shaw still has a chance of taking a medal in the women's RS:X class.
The 29-year-old placed seventh and fifth on the Nothe Course and sits seventh overall, with 16 points separating her with the medal places.
