Video: Ferne McCann on style inspiration and why she believes that 'behind every cool girl is half boy'

The Only Way is Essex star, Ferne McCann, has spoken about her love of mixing both feminine and masculine styles.

During an exclusive film interview for standard.co.uk, Ferne said: 'I saw something the other day on social media, and it said 'behind every cool girl is half boy'.

'I have that femine edge, I'm not saying I dress in completely baggy clothes, but I don't like that skin-fitted dress. I like [my style] to be really relaxed, oversized and boyfriend-fit'.

The star also admitted that when it comes to her personal style she likes to reflect her behavioural individuality. 'I've never been one to follow the crowd or be a sheep. I think it's really important to have your own identity.'

'For me it's all abut consistency. When you see something and you think 'Oh my God that is so Olivia Palermo', or 'that is so Victoria Beckham', 'that is so Ferne'. It's all about consistency.'

In terms of creating her own identity, the 25-year-old admitted that while she admires many women's style, she prefers to pick certain tips from each of them as opposed to replicating their look entirely.

'I love Pixie Lott. She dresses her age but she's not afraid to push the boundaries, she always wears the right colours. But for me, I'm into monochrome and like to keep it quite plain, so I think Alexa Chung always gets it right. I love Jackie Kennedy, I love Saved by the Bell...'

'At the moment, I think Instagram and blogs are such a great platform to seek inspiration from, and that whole girl gang like Mary Charteris and Jaime Winstone, they just ooze cool.'
