Hard partying and constant drama appear to have taken a toll on Britney Spears' skin.

The star, who has reportedly resumed drinking after a stint in rehab earlier this year, was photographed with unsightly spots on her face during a recent solo outing in Los Angeles.

It's clearly a time of stress for Britney - her relationship with her mother, once a Svengali figure in the pop star's life, is at breaking point.

Britney Spears stepped out alone for a day of shopping

Last week the troubled singer personally delivered papers to Lynne Spears reportedly ordering her to keep her away from sons Sean Preston,1, and Jayden James, nine months.

A friend told American magazine People: "[Lynne] has cried her heart out over the trouble between her and Britney."

"She is brokenhearted. She wants her baby to be okay and to bring her grandkids home to Kentwood and raise them in a normal environment."

Still, Lynne remains optimistic the rift will pass, saying: "Everything is going to be fine. I've got a strong family, and everything is going to be fine."

Britney sounded less convince of a reconcilitation, saying: "In time, who knows what will happen?"

"I'm praying for her right now. [I hope] she gets all the help she needs," Spears said.
