Adele has revealed she may never tour again.

The 28-year-old singer – who is on a mammoth world tour in support of her third studio album, 25 – said she feels uneasy being up on stage in front of thousands of fans.

Speaking on stage in Auckland, New Zealand, on the final international date of her tour, she said: “Touring isn't something I'm good at – applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. I don't know if I will ever tour again.

“The only reason I've toured is you. I'm not sure if touring is my bag. My greatest accomplishment in my career is this tour.”

Her admission comes days after tour promoter Michael Coppel said her current tour could be the last time she performs in Australia and New Zealand.

“We may never see her again,” Coppel told the Daily Telegraph. “Adele's been quoted as saying she won't tour again, she's doing this big tour as a recognition of her huge record sales and the enormous demand to see her live.

“It's impossible to tell what happens next. Then the future's an open book.”

Adele spoke previously about dealing with stage fright, something she said is getting worse.

“I get so nervous with live performances that I'm too frightened to try anything new,” she told NPR in 2015.

“It's actually getting worse. Or it's just not getting better, so I feel like it's getting worse, because it should've gotten better by now.

“With my stage fright, I just don't want to let people down. I get so nervous on stage that I don't have the guts to improvise or anything like that.”

Her lengthy world tour, which kicked off in February 2016, has seen her welcome her drag queen doppelganger on stage, witness a handful of proposals, sing with young fans and shout at a security guard for telling fans to sit down.

She will wrap up the tour with four dates at Wembley Stadium in June and July.
