Unheard Amy Winehouse demos will never be released to the public after her record label boss 'destroyed' them.

Universal CEO David Joseph told Billboard Magazine that his decision to get rid of her unreleased samples was a 'moral' one, as he didn't want another posthumous release.

He told the magazine: "It was a moral thing. Taking a stem or a vocal is not something that would ever happen on my watch. It now can't happen on anyone else's."

Joseph, who is an executive producer on new documentary film, Amy, admitted that the superstar was never recognised in the US like she was in the UK.

He said: "She never spent enough time [in the United States] for people to get a sense of her outside of being drunk and sloppy.

"Some asked, 'Are you making a film about a drug addict?' People didn't even realise she wrote her own lyrics."

Winehouse's father Mitch is unhappy about the family's portrayal in the eagerly-anticipated new film.

Speaking to Sky News, he said: "It's incredibly misleading and it's unfair because we spent our whole time when necessary cajoling Amy into rehab, into detox, and into getting help for her mental situation.

"There was family intervention after family intervention but you can't force someone to do something they don't want to do. Amy was compliant sometimes and sometimes she wasn't."
