Awkward: Kristen Stewart pulls out of London premiere appearance with R-Patz's best friend
Kristen Stewart has reportedly pulled out of the London premiere of On The Road.
She is said to be too embarrassed to appear in public in the wake of her cheating scandal.
The 22-year-old actress was originally planning to walk the red carpet for the film version of Jack Kerouac's classic novel on August 16 - but her co-star Tom Sturridge is a very close friend of Robert Pattinson.
A source said: "Kristen won't be doing the red carpet for On The Road - she's too ashamed to show her face in public right now. After everything that has been said, she's running scared at the moment.
The insider continued: "There's also the dilemma of standing next to her co-star in the movie, Tom Sturridge. He's very close to Rob and Kristen thinks it would be awkward for her to promote the movie on the red carpet alongside him.
"Kristen is very proud of her work for On The Road, she grew up reading Kerouac novels and this is a production she always wanted to star in."
They added: "If she appears at the London premiere, it will detract people from the movie itself and Kristen doesn't want that at all. She wants her performance and this film to be recognised for what it is - a great adaptation of a classic book."
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson is said to be worried about Kristen because of the "stress" she is under after admitting to an affair.
A source said: "Rob is still deciding what to do. He's been talking to Kristen briefly on the phone every day but they haven't met. He's worried about how the stress of it all is affecting her and asks how she is - but he's told her he's not ready to hear her explanation of what happened.
"He knows she's going through as much hell as he is but he's not sure he's ready to see her or forgive her. Kristen has told him she doesn't expect or deserve forgiveness, she just needs to see him to explain."
Meanwhile, Tom Sturridge wants the actor to come stay with him and girlfriend Sienna Miller in London. The source added to Closer magazine: "Tom and Sienna have really been there for him. They think he needs to escape Hollywood right now."
