Ant McPartlin was pictured at a London police station today after spending several days holed up inside his house following his arrest over an alleged ‘drink driving’ crash.

The beleaguered television star, 42, was pictured entering Kingston police station with a group of people, understood to be members of his legal team.

The troubled TV star earlier looked downcast as he stepped out of his home in west London, his first appearance in public after confirming his return to rehab.

McPartlin was involved in a three car crash in Richmond on Sunday which left a four year old girl in hospital after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle on a bend. He failed a roadside breathalyser test and was arrested before later being released.

Representatives for the star announced he had terminated all work commitments for the “foreseeable future” in the wake of the incident and it was confirmed he will return to rehab for treatment.

A spokesperson said in a statement: “Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments.

“He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.

“As such Saturday Night Takeaway will not be going ahead this Saturday.”

A Met police spokesman said today: "A 42-year-old man attended a west London police station on Wednesday, 21 March and was interviewed under caution.

"He has been further released under investigation."

According to The Sun a relative of McPartlin’s said he was left “devastated” that a child was involved in the crash.

Restaurant owner Faheem Vanoo was driving his green Mini with wife Shilpa Dandekar and their four-year-old daughter Amaira when they collided with the TV star’s Mini.

“It is not something that we ever expected, but we are just grateful that no one was hurt,” he said.

“It has been a terrible experience and it feels like we are coming out of a nightmare. It has left us all a bit shaken up.”

McPartlin's long time friend and TV partner Declan Donnelly is said to be “absolutely devastated”. He will host the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway alone. In a statement ITV confirmed: “We can confirm that Saturday Night Takeaway, presented by Declan Donnelly, will return to ITV on March 31, and the series finale will be taking place at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida a week later.”

McPartlin’s estranged wife Lisa Armstrong – who he split from earlier this year – is also said to be going through a “very tough time”.
