Donald Trump slams Arnold Schwarzenegger for poor Celebrity Apprentice ratings
Donald Trump has hit out at Arnold Schwarzenegger for The Apprentice’s poor first episode ratings.
The President-elect, who stepped down from his role in the boardroom in 2015, has blamed his successor for the slump in ratings after the new series kicked off earlier this week.
In a series of early morning tweets on Friday, Trump said that Schwarzenegger had been ‘destroyed’ and went to describe himself in the third person as a ‘ratings machine’.
He wrote: “Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got "swamped" (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT. So much for....
“being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, the new series of the show lost nearly half its audience in the 18-49 demographic, watched by 4.93 million viewers.
Trump’s first series of the show drew 11.08 million back in 2008 while his final episode was watched by 6.1 million viewers.
Despite stepping down as host of the show, Trump is still an executive producer.
The President-elect previously voiced his support for Schwarzenegger, tweeting last year: “He’ll be great & will raise lots of $ for charity.”
During the Presidential campaign, Schwarzenegger refused to endorse Trump and declared that he would not be voting Republican for the first time since becoming a US citizen.
