Donna Air has been left “heartbroken” after splitting from James Middleton, according to reports.

The pair – who started dating in 2013 – are believed to have split a few weeks ago with Middleton initiating the break up.

“The split happened a couple of weeks ago and it was James’ decision,” a source told The Sun. “Poor Donna. She’s more than a little bit heartbroken.

“But he just didn’t think it was going to go the distance. And I think his family were always very anti her being the future Queen of England’s sister-in-law.”

Air appeared to confirm the news when she posted an inspirational quote to her Instagram account.

The quote read: “Accept what is, let go of what was, have faith in what will be.”

The pair remained notoriously private throughout their relationship after first meeting at Robin Birley's private members' club in London's Mayfair, in February 2013.
