Broken premiered at the Hackney Picturehouse last night, bringing out a clutch of stars to celebrate a new critically acclaimed movie-for-our-times that won Best Picture at the British Independent Film Awards. Directed by Rufus Norris, it includes a stunning debut from a then 11-year-old Eloise Laurence as the tomboyish Skunk as well as performances from seasoned veterans such as Roy Kinnear, Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy. 'Dark, funny and in the end uplifting' is how director Norris described the script.
