Glastonbury Festival 2016: David Bowie and Prince tributes planned for Pyramid stage
Glastonbury organisers have confirmed plans for David Bowie and Prince tributes at this year’s festival.
Emily Eaves has revealed that an ‘incredible light show’ will take place on the Pyramid stage while a number of ‘intimate’ parties will be staged around the site.
Footage of Bowie’s 2000 set will be broadcast around the festival during the light show, while a smaller tribute will take place on the Park stage.
Speaking to the BBC, she said: “We’re going to do an incredible light show which will go on for the whole show and beyond, into the night.
“There’s talk of late-night Prince parties and things,” she added.
Festivals in London this summer
The festival organiser admitted that they’d been close to booking Prince to play at the festival on a number of occasions.
“It’s been so close to happening for the last three years. A couple of times it’s been confirmed and then not happened,” she said.
“It’s really disappointing that he hasn’t played here but it’s also, obviously, a huge loss to music because he was an incredible force.”
Prince passed away at the age of 57 on April 21st, while Bowie died on January 10 after a battle with cancer.
Glastonbury Festival 2016 will run from June 22-26.
