Glenn Close and husband David Shaw divorce after nine years of marriage
Glenn Close and husband David Shaw have divorced after nine years of marriage.
The couple are said to have quietly split some time ago before finalising their divorce this week.
A rep for the actress confirmed the split to People magazine, saying that Close and Shaw had parted ways ‘amicably’.
A source told Page Six: “They’ve been separated for some time, and things are amicable between them."
Celebrity couples who split
The Fatal Attraction star, 68, wed the entrepreneur back in 2006 in a private ceremony in Maine, where the couple lived.
Shaw was Close’s third husband , following a marriage to singer-songwriter Cabot Wade from 1969 to 1971 and then businessman James Marlas from 1984 to 1987.
In an interview with People after her second marriage ended, Close said: “Too many women define themselves in terms of a man.
“I think of men and women as two different species. Katharine Hepburn said they should live next door and visit each other once in a while. Not a bad idea."
Earlier this week it was announced that Close would return to the West End stage in a revival of musical Sunset Boulevard.
The Oscar-nominated actress, who won a Tony Award for her performance as Norma Desmond on Broadway 20 years ago, will reprise the role at the Coliseum next year.
