Heather Locklear sends message of support to Charlie Sheen as he confirms that he is HIV positive

Heather Locklear has sent a heartfelt message of support to long-time friend Charlie Sheen.

The actress reached out to the 50-year-old star on social media ahead of his announcement that he is HIV positive.

Sharing a photo of the pair together on Instagram, Locklear wrote: “My heart hurts. Prayers for Charlie and his family.”

Just a few hours later, her former Spin City co-star appeared on NBC’s Today Show to confirm speculation that he was suffering from HIV.

Speaking in an interview with Matt Lauer, he said: “I'm here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive."

Sheen went on to say that he was not “entirely sure” how he had contracted the disease and said that he had “not knowingly” passed it on to anyone.

He said: “I always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition.”

The star went on to tell Lauer that former wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller were aware of his diagnosis.

The Anger Management actor has faced overwhelming support on Twitter following the announcement.
