British actor Idris Elba has revealed he carried out many of his own stunts in his latest movie, Bastille Day, in which he plays a CIA agent.

Elba stars in the new action thriller set in Paris that is released in UK cinemas this weekend.

The action movie follows an American pick pocket played by Richard Madden who finds himself hunted by Elba's CIA agent when he steals a bag that contains more than just a wallet.

The award winning actor said: “The director James Watkins had a really fresh take on the action thriller. He tried to get back to era where there was no CGI.

“I haven’t done as much action in a film such as this so that was a massive appeal for me as well.”

Elba known for his roles in Prometheus and TV series The Wire stars alongside Scottish actor Richard Madden

Madden, said: “The director would come in with an extra note or a fresh little idea that would absorb our contributions.

“It was a really collaborative thing between the whole crew.”
