James McAvoy and Bill Hader 'in talks to join Stephen King sequel It: Chapter 2'
James McAvoy and Bill Hader are in talks to join the cast of It: Chapter 2, according to reports.
The stars are reportedly set to join Jessica Chastain for the Stephen King sequel as Beverly, the female member of the club at the centre of the action.
It: Chapter 2 takes place 27 years after the first terrifying movie, in which the Losers Club were terrorised by clown Pennywise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, McAvoy and Hadar are both engaged in negotiations to star in the upcoming film, due for release next year.
The publication claim that McAvoy would play the role of Bill Denbrough, the unofficial leader of the group who goes on to become an author while Hadar would be the adult Richie Tozier, the prankster who grew up to be a DJ.
Bill Skarsgard is set to once again play Pennywise with the children from the first film expected to reprise their roles in flashback form.
Director Andy Muschietti and screenwriter Gary Dauberman will hold the same roles they did in the 2017 film.
Scottish actor McAvoy, 38, will also hit the big screen next year in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
It: Chapter 2 is scheduled for release on September 6 2019.
