John Boyega meets seriously ill young Star Wars fans during trip to London hospice

John Boyega met a group of young fans during a visit to a children’s hospice in London.

The Star Wars actor, who is from Peckham, took a break from shooting the next film in the franchise to spend time with seriously ill youngsters at the Demelza Hospice in Eltham.

On Tuesday, the 24-year-old spent his downtime chatting to children, members of their families and staff, many of whom had donned their best Star Wars costumes for the occasion.

Speaking to the News Shopper, Boyega said: “I’d heard about the great work of Demelza so couldn’t wait to visit and help make some dreams come true.

“I was blown away by the children and the nurses who do such a fantastic job of caring for them.”

The staff and children organised a Star Wars themed party for their special guest, who played games with his young fans.

Boyega even helped one youngster, dressed as a Stormtrooper, work on his bowling skills.

Care Coordinator Fiona Ashmore said: “We’re so grateful to John for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Demelza.

“He interacted beautifully with the children and families, playing games, cracking jokes and most importantly raising so many smiles.”

Boyega visited the Royal London Hospital back in March, delivering toys and games to sick children.
