Justin Bieber took to Twitter to compare himself to Princess Diana after a photographer allegedly rear-ended his red Ferrari as he was chased through the streets of Los Angeles yesterday.

The 20-year-old lashed out on Twitter after the minor incident and called for new laws to protect celebrities from suffering the same fate as the late Princess of Wales, who died in a crash in Paris in 1997.

Warning: Bieber tweeted his concerns after being chased by a photographer yesterday

The Baby singer tweeted: "There should be laws against what I just experienced. We should have learned from the death of Princess Diana... I don't have a problem with Paparazzi but when they act recklessly they put us all in danger."

Bieber was driving his Ferrari in West Hollywood on Tuesday afternoon when he noticed the photographer following him in a Prius.

A source told gossip website TMZ.com that the singer slammed on his breaks and the paparazzo rear-ended him.

Despite the only injury being a scratch to the car, 'beliebers' were quick to bombard the fan with concern for his safety with one tweeting: "AW BABE U OK?! HOPE UR NOT HURT..IM SO SORRY THE WORLD IS DANGEROUS 4U BUT U GOTTA STAY SAFE!!! BE SAFE & DONT LET EM HURT U @justinbieber."

It's not the first time that he has driven recklessly. He was issued a warning by police officers in Beverly Hills only last week, after they blasted him for "putting other people's safety in jeopardy" when he was captured on video illegally driving his three-wheeled motorcycle on the sidewalk to avoid traffic.
