Kate Bush faces backlash from fans for saying she supports ‘wonderful’ Prime Minister Theresa May

Kate Bush has shocked fans by saying that she ‘really likes’ Tory Prime Minister Theresa May.

The iconic British musician, 58, faced a social media backlash on Tuesday after admitting that she thinks the new PM is the ‘best thing that’s happened’ to the UK in a long time.

“We have a female prime minister here in the UK. I actually really like her and think she’s wonderful,” she told Canadian magazine Macleans.

“I think it’s the best thing that’s happened to us in a long time. She’s a very intelligent woman but I don’t see much to fear.

“I will say it is great to have a woman in charge of the country. She’s very sensible and I think that’s a good thing at this point in time.”

Bush is promoting her brand new album Before The Dawn, which she says is about the ‘fear of women’s power’.

The singer’s Twitter fans didn’t seem to be too impressed with her political allegiances, with one person writing:

“The sound of hearts breaking everywhere as Kate Bush comes out as a Tory :-(.”

“Kate Bush revealing herself to be a Tory is the nail in the coffin of 2016,” wrote another.

“Surprising number of people who appear to have believed Kate Bush was a revolutionary socialist,” wrote someone else.

Bush is currently on track to get her first UK number one album for 30 years as it’s currently on top of the midweek charts.
