Lena Dunham fulfills dream of meeting Call the Midwife cast at Royal Festival Hall show
Someone is clearly due for a ‘reward in heaven’ after Girls star Lena Dunham fulfilled her dream of meeting the stars of Call the Midwife at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday - having previously promised that rewards awaited anyone who arranged the meeting.
The 28-year-old also talked about working with British actor Richard E Grant who is to star in the third series of Girls and meeting her comedy idol Jennifer Saunders.
Lena and Caitlin Moran packed the venue with a feminist-themed talk show, which was also attended by stars such as Sarah Millican, Dawn O’Porter, Sandi Toksvig, June Sarpong and Kathy Lette.
Tickets for the show at Southbank Centre sold out in less than an hour this August.
Lena who was launching a book, had previously spoken of her obsession with the retro-themed nursing show, and met the cast backstage.
The American actress and writer had said on Twitter, “Obsessed with BBC's Call The Midwife. Def want to remake it with Williamsburg doulas biking to Gowanus emergencies.”
The actress has not come clean on whether she pitched this idea to the cast.
Her autobiography Not That Kind of Girl was launched at the exclusive London event at Southbank Centre.
