The surviving members of N.W.A have reunited for their first performance in 27 years.

Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella were joined on stage by Dr Dre for the first time in nearly three decades at Coachella over the weekend.

As part of Ice Cube’s scheduled set at the US festival, the three remaining members of the ground-breaking hip hop group (Eazy-E died in 1995) made a surprise appearance.

While Ren and Yella had taken to the stage with Ice Cube during the first weekend of the festival, fans clearly weren’t expecting the appearance from Dre.

“You know, we missing somebody,” Ice Cube told the audience. “Is there a doctor in the house?”

Despite being reunited, the foursome didn’t actually perform any NWA songs together, instead opting for Dr Dre’s Still D.R.E and 2Pac’s California Love.

Kendrick Lamar also joined the former group on stage for a song, performing his 2015 hit Alright.

NWA were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month, but opted not to perform together at the event.

They faced backlash from Kiss frontman Gene Simmons, who tweeted:

“Let me know when Jimi Hendrix gets into the Hip Hop Hall Of Fame.”
