Nicki Minaj has been accused of mocking a woman who is believed to be suffering from a mental illness.

The US singer, 33, posted an Instagram video of herself laughing at a woman walking down a street in Miami.

The woman can be heard shouting: “I don’t need your so called help.”

Minaj asks: “What did you say? Miss?”

The woman shouts for the Anaconda singer to “go away” to which Minaj laughs and continues: “What did I do? Miss, you look nice, can we talk? Come here.”

Minaj was branded insensitive by her followers for the video, which has racked up more than two million views.

One follower commented: "This is terrible! You should be ashamed of yourself."

Another wrote: "'What did I do?' You are harassing a lady. That's what you did, she said go away because she didn't want you messing with her. You technically harassed this lady."

A third posted: "The statement 'you look nice' really was sarcasm. It's like you're on a pedestal looking down on a peasant..making a mockery out of her..for your entertainment (sic)."

US talk show host Wendy Williams echoed the shock and branded Minaj an “insensitive b****” for the video.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness released a statement which read: "Nobody would make fun of a cancer patient and mental illness is an illness like any other."

Despite the backlash, Minaj hasn't removed the video from her account.

Standard Online has obscured the woman's face and contacted a representative for Minaj for comment.
