Professor Green opened up about his father’s suicide in an emotional interview on This Morning.

The rapper, who is promoting his autobiography Lucky, became chocked up as he discussed his last conversation with his father before his death.

He said: “We were meant to meet the day after Boxing Day, and I said, ‘Are you going to come and see me?’

“He said him and his wife and his kids wanted to see me... I lost my temper. I said to him that it wasn’t about them and this was about me and him sitting down and talking about everything.

“I put myself on the line. And I said, 'If I ever see you again I’ll knock you out'.”

Speaking about coming to terms with what his father was going through, Green – real name Stephen Manderson – said:

“I learnt so much about the traumas he had suffered, and the bereavements and how his life started.

“I can understand. I just wish… the only thing is… I just wish I could have spoken to him. It just means I have to take care of myself. “

The star went on to admit that he visits a therapist as he doesn’t want to completely rely on wife Millie Mackintosh.

He said: “I see a therapist regularly. It’s important, you go through it – you can puff your chest out but that’s not dealing with it, that’s surviving.

“She is an eternal optimist, I’m a slight pessimist. We balance each other out quite well. But that said I don’t look to her to solve my problems. I don’t rely on Millie to counsel me.”
