Rihanna has played down rumours that she is in a relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio - saying she is “too busy” for a man.

The 27-year-old singer, who stars in animation film Home and is imminently expected to release her latest album R8, advised fans to stay away from gossip blogs - saying “they will screw you every time” - amid rumours that she is dating the actor.

It came as the singer made a dramatic solo comeback dressed in a black mini dress and green thigh-high Versace boots with a matching fur coat for a performance of her new single Bitch Better Have My Money at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles last night.

She told Hello! magazine her ideal man would be “one who could tolerate my schedule”, adding: “I’m so busy right now that I just don’t have a lot of time to offer to a man so it wouldn’t even be fair to be thinking of pulling somebody else into this life. But if I did, he would have to be man enough to live with my schedule and not get scared.”

When asked “how does Rihanna DiCaprio sound to you?” She said: “It sounds to me like you should stay away from the blogs because they will screw you every time.”

She told of her joy working with fellow singer and actress Jennifer Lopez on Home and her love of strong women.

The singer claimed women have “come so far in the last few years that anything is possible for us,” adding: “It’s all about giving and caring and loving each other and the more we respect ourselves for being that way, the more men will respect us, too.”

She cited her mother and late grandmother as inspirations, adding that she feels “very lucky” to have known them.

The star claimed the biggest misconception about her is that her life is “exciting around the clock”, claiming that although she likes adventure, she is “so boring” when she gets home and watches cartoons at night so as not to get “scared”.

She said: “I just want to lie on the couch and watch TV. I love reality TV - although I know it’s awful - movies, documentaries, anything. And late at night, I only watch cartoons because I don’t want to get scared.”
