The old ones are always the best: Bruce Forsyth and Barbara Windsor keep on dancing at Talk of the Town reunion

Singers and dancers who appeared at the historic cabaret club Talk of the Town were reunited last night at the Hippodrome, the site of the former theatre-restaurant.

Speaking at the event, Sir Bruce Forsyth denied reports he is ready to retire as presenter of Strictly Come Dancing.

There has been growing speculation about whether Sir Bruce will do another series of the BBC One show, but the 85-year-old denied he was ready to step out of the limelight.

"I'm not retiring," he said. "I may be taking it a bit easier, but then I have been doing it for many years."

The television star also revealed he enjoys being known as Sir Bruce.

"I've got used to it now," he said. "When I think about it it's much friendlier to call me Sir Bruce than Mr Forsyth.

"Mr Forsyth sounds awful really, it sounds like a plumber."

Sir Bruce made the comments at a reunion for the stars of London cabaret club Talk of the Town.

He held the record for the highest number of appearances at the venue, which closed in 1982.

"Every performer in the world was queuing up to work in this place," he said.

Sir Bruce described its closure as "the biggest tragedy to showbusiness in this country".

The reunion, which was also attended by former dancers, musicians and stars such as Barbara Windsor, was held at Talk of the Town's home, the London Hippodrome in Leicester Square.
