Tom Hardy has revealed that he’s tracked down the moped thief he helped catch last year.

A witness said the Hollywood actor “switched into superhero mode” as he collared the man before checking him for weapons after the chase.

He sprinted through gardens and a building site before grabbing the thief by the scruff of the neck, and declaring, "I caught the c***," said a witness.

However, he has since told Esquire how he targeted the youngster in a bid to put him on the right track.

Speaking to the publication, Hardy explained: “He must stand accountable for what he’s done.

“But he’s got issues, and he’s in a bad way. Do we just give up on a sixteen-year-old?”

The Venom actor added that it wasn’t as “much of a chase” as headlines at the time implied.

He added: “It wasn’t much of a chase; when I found him, he was in f***** rag order.”

At the time, a witness said two men had jumped a red light at a busy junction before crashing the moped into a £50,000 Mercedes near Hardy’s home in Richmond, according to the Sun.

Arun Pullen, 22, said: "Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious.”

He added: "I asked Tom what happened and he told me he chased him through my back garden and caught him around the block - but the route was like an assault course."

Mr Pullen said he thought Hardy even checked the suspect's ID before police arrived.
