Tom Hardy has sent pulses racing ahead of his return to children’s TV channel CBeebies for Bedtime Stories.

The 39-year-old actor has been chosen to read The Cloudspotter by Tom McLaughlin alongside his dog, Woody on Valentine’s Day.

CBeebies teased his appearance with a video clip of the actor encouraging children to get “tucked up” in bed for a story.

Sitting on a balcony he tells viewers: “Cloud spotting is definitely more enjoyable, especially if your best friend is a dog.

“And I’ve spotted you’re not in bed yet. Get yourself tucked up and I’ll see you very soon for another Bedtime Story.

“Night night!”

Fans were quick to comment on the clip with one writing: “I would SPRINT to my bed and never get out if tom hardy gave me them kinda instructions jeeeeeze.”

Another posted: “Thank you Cbeebies for clearly putting the grown ups first when signing up Mr Hardy for the bedtime stories. I still haven't managed to see his first one but I'm looking forward to this one!”

Hardy, who is famed for his villainous roles as Ronnie and Reggie Kray, and Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, previously shook his hard man exterior to read a story on New Year’s Eve.

He was praised for his “soothing” voice and were unashamed to admit they recorded the show and watched it on a loop.

Rob Brydon, James McAvoy, David Tennant, Isla Fisher, Damian Lewis and Edith Bowman are among the celebrities who have read stories in the past.
