Singer Will Young is selling his two BRIT Awards for £5,000 each, with some of the profits going to a dogs’ home in Thailand.

The former Pop Idol winner scooped Best Breakthrough Act in 2003 and Best Song in 2005 but is now looking to sell the gongs, saying they remind him of an “unhappy time in his life”.

A portion of the funds raised will go to a Thai dogs’ home, to turn “bad into good”.

Young told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “People think I am mad to get rid of my Brits but to me they are just a reminder of a not very happy time in my life. I would rather the money go to the dogs.
