X Factor contestant Raign Rabin - who claimed to be a struggling musician during her audition last night - has written music with Rita Ora.

The judges struggled to understand why at 31-years-old she hadn't already become successful if she really was as talented as she believed.

Judge Simon said: "Basically you're 31 and nothing has worked out for you."

After a not so great attempt at Clarity by Zedd, and four "No's" from the judges, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini sent the hopeful packing.

Not stopping there, the auditionee stormed back into the room in true X Factor fashion to perform a song she'd written herself titled Don't Let Me Go - and was put through to the arena rounds.

But it has since emerged that the "struggling musician" may not be so unsuccessful afterall.

Don't Let Me Go featured on an episode of The Vampire Diaries, she co-wrote a track called Been Lying with Rita Ora, had one of her songs used in an advert for the US version of The X Factor, and topped the charts in Russia.

The news follows last week's revelation that rejected 'Hip' from husband and wife duo Kitten and the Hip had his fair share of musical success.

The bald 53-year-old used to play alongside Fat Boy Slim a.k.a Norman Cook in jazz band Freak Power and the boys reached the UK top three with their 1995 hit Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out.
