Dukes of Hazzard star Jessica Simpson left her hot pants at home for the film's British premiere.

Simpson plays pin-up Daisy Duke in the movie remake complete with trademark denim shorts.

The role was originally played by Catherine Bach in the hit 1980s TV show.
And Simpson wears an even tinier version of the famous shorts - measuring just 10 inches from top to bottom.

Sadly for fans in London's Leicester Square, Simpson, 25, wore a floor-length dress for the premier.

"I can't walk the red carpet in Daisy Dukes." she said.

It was left to glamour girl Jordan to flash the flesh in a pair of miniscule sequinned pants.

The big screen remake features American Pie's Seann William Scott and Jackass star Johnny Knoxville as good ol' boys Bo and Luke Duke.

Burt Reynolds plays their enemy Boss Hogg and country music legend Willie Nelson appears as their Uncle Jesse.

Simpson, a singer and star of reality show Newly Weds with husband Nick Lachey, is making her movie debut in the film.

She embarked on a gruelling diet and exercise regime to make sure she could fit into the famous hot pants.

"I worked out six days a week for two and a half hours a day," she said. "The day I got the part I went straight on the South Beach Diet.

"But there was definitely a robe on set that I put on after every take because I'm shy about that sort of thing."

She added: "I grew up loving Daisy Duke. She was someone I idolised as a kid so to play her is a dream come true."

The film's director Jay Chandrasekhar added: "Jessica's Daisy Dukes are even shorter than Catherine Bach's, which I honestly didn't think was possible."

The original TV series ran from 1979 to 1985 and the Dukes' Dodge Charger car, the General Lee, became as famous as the actors.

Movie bosses trawled the US to find 30 Dodge Chargers to use in the remake.
The Dukes of Hazzard opens nationwide on August 24.
