Oscar month is the flimsy excuse for Warner to release six previous winners from the 1930s and 1940s, but then, any excuse will do.

This soulful 1942 wartime drama won six gongs, including Best Picture, and it's still a treat even if it's a little long. Greer Garson is the wife and mother of the title, trying to tend hubby Walter Pidgeon and three kids through the trauma and destruction of World War II.

Upper lips stay stiff, and life goes on: Richard Ney, as the Minivers' eldest son, provides a poignant romantic strain. Comes with MGM shorts and awards footage of Garson.
