New-look Trafalgar Square gets hip and high today when some of the biggest names in the world of skating and BMX take on one of the biggest halfpipes in Europe.

The giant Vert Ramp takes centre stage in the square for the launch of Right Guard's Xtreme Sport VertSK8 (acrobatics while hanging in the air) Series.

X-Games champion Pierre-Luc Gagnon has been flown over to compete against the best of British. This is the first event to take place in Trafalgar Square following it's lengthy makeover.

Competitors, including Britain's top BMXer John Taylor, will be flying 10ft off the top of the ramp as Nelson looks on in the background.

Music from DJ Scratch will keep up the tempo as Gagnon attempts two full mid-air revolutions.

Don't miss!

Today, Trafalgar Square, WC2, midday. Tube: Charing Cross
