World champion racing driver Jenson Button was unable to steer clear of a pit stop pep talk with Gavin and Stacey's Smithy in his preparations for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Man to man: James Corden gives Jenson Button advice...and a hug

F1 star Button becomes the latest recipient of James Corden's pearls of wisdom after the comedian showed tennis ace Andy Murray how to make it to Grand Slam glory.

Corden teamed up with a host of British sports stars as part of a string of spoof sketches for this year's Sport Relief.

A preview of Corden's character Smithy meeting Button was screened during BBC One's coverage of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The meeting is part of Smithy's "one-man mission" to motivate sporting greats for the TV charity fundraising efforts, to be screened on March 19.

He also meets the Manchester United squad and diver Tom Daley.

The sketch follows last year's pep talk to the England football team for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.
